Team of local tycoon, Samokov municipality to invest in Borovets resort
Local businessman Hristo Kovachki is ready to pour cash into local resort Borovets after launching two joint ventures with the municipality of Samokov where the skiing hotspot is located.

Last week, the Samokov municipal council voted to list several land plots in the area among the assets of Boriko, a joint venture with Kovachki that is yet to be registered

The 10 ha municipal land will be developed into a winter sports venue with a 1,100 m ski lift.

The municipality is also contributing a 2 ha site in Borovets itself for the construction of a hotel complex with 2 ski runs.

The initial estimate is for an investment of around 5 mln euro.

In mid-2006, the Samokov municipality and Kovachki company LM Impex registered the joint venture Nadar 2000.

The company will draft the masterplan for the construction of holiday compounds in the Govedartsi area as well as ski runs and lifts to the Maliovitsa peak.

British investment fund Equest is also preparing a gusher of investment for Borovets after recently becoming a shareholder in the company tapped to expand the resort.

In addition to Equest, Rila-Samokov 2004, the company specially incorporated for the implementation of the so called Super Borovets project, is also co-owned by the Samokov municipality (25%) and construction company Glavbolgarstroy.(Dnevnik)
