New dairy farms and taverns will welcome the tourists in the Super Borovets mountain resort complex. This is envisioned in the development plan of the resort adopted by the Council of Minister. The new sites will be built in the zone over 1400 m above sea-level. The accent will be on the development of rural tourism. The Super Borovets concept will be implemented in three steps. The project will be launched this autumn. First a lift will be built connecting Borovets with the Markudjik locality. It will cost about 1 million leva.
The first stage is to be completed in 2007. By that time the accommodation capacity of the resort will be increased by 2000 beds. New gyms and swimming pools will be built. At the second stage the plan envisages new hotels and ski runs in the triangle enclosing Beli Iskar, Samokov and Borovets. A holiday village with 6500-7000 beds will be built in the region of Samokov-Borovets. After that they will start the construction of new sites at 1400 m above sea-level. Because of the height and sparse terrain only holiday villages and small hotels will be allowed there.
