Snow Fall Predictions for Bulgaria – January 2008 Updated: 2008-01-03Snow Fall Predictions for Bulgaria – January 2008
Snow will continue falling over Bulgaria until the weekend, weather forecasters said on Wednesday.
In western Bulgaria, the snowfalls are expected to die down in the early hours of Thursday, but will continue strongly in the east of the country, especially in northeastern Bulgaria, Latin Latinov from Bulgaria's meteorology institute with the Academy of Sciences told Darik Radio.
Snowfalls will stop entirely by Friday evening and will be followed by a three-day cold snap that will see temperatures drop to around -10 degrees Celsius throughout the country and as low as -15 degrees in some parts of Bulgaria, he added.
Next week, the temperatures will rise again, with a fair chance of renewed snowfalls.
Until the end of the month, the meteorologists don't expect new snowfalls on par with the current front crossing Bulgaria, which has resulted in a snow blanket of at least 20 centimetres throughout much of the country.
